Life is hard. We get lost, unsure of which direction to go, or more importantly why we should choose any direction at all. And so, in times of dire need, we turn to others for help. A. friend, a mentor, or, the internet
We run up and plead “I’m struggling with ___,” And they eat it up, throwing out “I would”, “you should.” Anecdote after anecdote.
But you see, humans can only do one thing: live their life. We only experience what passes the lenses of our eyes, the waves that vibrate against our drums, the neurochemicals that diffuse in our brain. They are ours, and ours alone. Then, what is advice?
Advice is a reflection. Advice is a cling to nostalgia. Advice is a way for someone to say, “hey, I was there, and I did this, and I turned out alright. Maybe, you will turn out alright, too.
So sure, ask for advice. Yes, listen. But learn to ignore it, too.
